General Practitioners Programme (GPP)

The advantages of the General Practicioner Program/primary care physician principle at a glance

As your regular family practice, we are your first point of contact and your personal guide through the healthcare system. By registering for the family doctor program (HZV), we create a binding foundation for even more reliable and individualized care. You will benefit directly from this through concrete advantages that will noticeably simplify your daily practice.

01

Better appointment availability

As a GPP patient, you receive easier access to appointments and are prioritised when booking consultations.

02

Digital repeat prescriptions—no collection required

For repeat prescriptions, GPP patients no longer need to visit the practice in person. Simply request them online –we send them directly to your pharmacy.

03

Referrals without a practice visit

Need to see a specialist? Request your referral digitally and have it sent straight to the specialist practice.

04

More preventive care & check-ups

As a GPP patient, you benefit from expanded preventive services and regular health check-ups – every two years instead of every three.

05

More time for your treatment

With long-term GP care, we can plan appointments more efficiently and tailor them to your needs –giving us more time to focus on what matters to you.

Häufige Fragen zum Hausarztprogramm (HZV) / Primärarzt-Prinzip

Does the General Practitioners Programme cost anything?

No. Participation in the General Practitioners Programme is free of charge for you. All services are covered by your statutory health insurance.

Can I change my General Practicioner after enrolling?

Yes, changing your GP is generally possible. Depending on your health insurance provider, a minimum commitment period may apply. We’re happy to advise you personally on the details.

For whom is GPP particularly important/recommended?

The General Practicioner Programme is aimed in particular at patients who want more than just acute care and value long-term, coordinated medical support.

Furthermore, if you need regular medication, check-ups, and referrals, the General Practicioner Programme/primary care physician principle makes sense for you.

Do I always need a referral before seeing a specialist?

Yes. As a GPP participant, you first contact us before visiting a specialist and receive a referral. This comes with clear advantages for you: With GP-centred care, we keep a complete overview of your medical history, test results, and reports. This allows us to coordinate your treatment more effectively, avoid duplicate examinations, and tailor medical decisions specifically to you. At the same time, the process remains simple: you can also request referrals online, and we’ll forward them directly to the specialist practice of your choice.

Can I still come to Smartpraxis if I am not a regular patient?

Yes, of course. As a guest patient, you will naturally continue to have access to acute care at our facility. However, only our regular patients have access to the full range of services offered by Smartpraxis.

Which health insurance providers participate in the General Practitioners Programme?

Most statutory health insurance providers support the General Practitioners Programme.
