Fructose-Malabsorption - SmartPraxis

Fructose Intolerance Check

Why?

Evaluation of possible fructose malabsorption in cases of recurring gastrointestinal complaints such as bloating, abdominal pain, or diarrhea after consuming fructose-containing foods.

Diagnostics / Procedure

H₂ breath test (hydrogen breath test): After administration of a defined fructose solution, the hydrogen content of the exhaled air is measured at regular intervals. An increase indicates insufficient absorption of fructose in the small intestine.

Duration

Approx. 120–180 minutes

Preparation

More detailed information will be provided during the pre-consultation by one of our physicians.

Afterwards

Evaluation of the test results and medical consultation. Values above 20 ppm are considered positive and indicate fructose intolerance. If needed, recommendations for further nutritional therapy (e.g., an elimination model) and, if necessary, follow-up testing.

Costs

Approx. €80
