There is a hepatitis vaccination for variant A and one for variant B. There is also a combined hepatitis vaccination for both variants. The hepatitis vaccination is administered via inactivated vaccine. Two or three vaccinations are required for basic immunisation. There are one to six months between the vaccination dates. The vaccination protection should be refreshed after ten years.
Any side effects that may occur are usually harmless. For example, you may experience slight redness or swelling, but these will soon subside.

The virus is easily transmitted through contaminated water or food and can cause acute inflammation of the liver. The best protection against the disease is simply vaccination.
